The delegation, comprising of 15 members, including Nawaz Sharif, met with Chinese officials, business leaders, and experts to discuss various aspects of economic development.

Shanghai Visit: A New Chapter for Pakistan’s Economic Growth

The visit marked a significant step forward for Pakistan’s economic growth, as it aimed to explore opportunities for investment, trade, and knowledge sharing with China. The delegation’s itinerary included meetings with key stakeholders, including the Shanghai Municipal Government, the Shanghai Stock Exchange, and the China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC) Authority.

Key Objectives of the Visit

  • Draw lessons from China’s development model
  • Strengthen cooperation in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, and technology
  • The delegation’s meetings with Chinese officials and business leaders focused on these key objectives. They discussed various aspects of economic development, including:

  • Infrastructure development: The delegation explored opportunities for infrastructure development, including transportation networks, energy generation, and telecommunications. Energy sector: The delegation met with Chinese experts to discuss the potential for cooperation in the energy sector, including the development of renewable energy sources.

    The MoU was signed on 28th February 2023, in Lahore, Pakistan. The partnership aims to support the growth of startups in Pakistan through the provision of funding and mentorship.
